Infrastructure with a Global Reach

The Tennessee Valley is strategically located in the southeastern part of the U.S., making it a region with vast connectivity capabilities. It is located within a day’s drive of 75 percent of the U.S. population, plus possesses these infrastructure assets:

  • Ten interstate highways totaling 1,500 miles
  • Nine commercial airports
  • 800 miles of navigable waterway
  • Eight major railways totaling 5,635 miles

TVA’s infrastructure, particularly our accessible location and transportation network, are key strengths that make doing business here advantageous.

There are approximately 185 public- and private-use terminals for handling river freight across the Valley, and there are five ports within close proximity to our region:

  • Alabama State Port Authority
  • Appalachian Regional Port (Murray County, GA)
  • Jacksonville Port Authority
  • Port of Charleston

  • Port of Savannah
